The conference registration fee does not include breakfast or lunch in the daily schedule. We will include information about options for lunch in your registration packet. NOTE: if you will be bringing a guest to the banquet, please sign up for the guest banquet ticket in advance to assist us with our catering counts for that evening event.

SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE SANTA BARBARA AIRPORT TO THE RESORT: The Resort provides free Shuttle Service from the Santa Barbara Airport daily from 5:00am-11:00pm. You are requested to phone the Guest Services Department directly at 805-884-8528 a day in advance with your flight arrival time to arrange this service. There is also a courtesy phone at baggage claim for the Resort if necessary. If your flight is due to arrive before or after the hours of service, we suggest you make an advance reservation for the SuperRide Airport Shuttle on the SuperRide website or at 800-977-1123. There is also a courtesy phone at baggage claim to contact SuperRide upon arrival (press the "SuperRide" button). If you prefer, there are taxis available at the airport as well.

FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: If you take the Santa Barbara Airbus from Los Angeles International Airport, please request to be dropped off at the Hotel Mar Monte, which is within walking distance of the DoubleTree Resort.

BY TRAIN: If you will arrive by Amtrak Train Service, you can follow the same instructions listed above for Shuttle Service from the Santa Barbara Airport.

DRIVING TO THE DOUBLETREE: Driving directions can be found in the "Travel" section on this page, below. Please note there is a $5 per-car per-night self-parking charge. Valet parking is also available.

NOTE: if you are staying at both the DoubleTree and one of the following hotels and need assistance moving your luggage to and from the DoubleTree, please check at the front desk of your hotel for information regarding luggage service on 12/3, 12/4, 12/8 and 12/9.

Accommodations are still available at the Santa Barbara Inn, located within walking distance of the conference site, Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort. The Santa Barbara Inn is offering the same rate as the conference site (for reservations made through Nov. 17, after which time the rate will increase to $139 per night) and includes a complimentary breakfast. TRANSPORTATION FROM SANTA BARBARA AIRPORT OR TRAIN STATION TO SANTA BARBARA INN: The Santa Barbara Inn does not offer shuttle service. They recommend you contact the Beachside Taxi (either in advance or upon arrival: 805-966-5600) or that you make an advance reservation for the SuperRide Airport Shuttle on the SuperRide website or at 800-977-1123. There is also a courtesy phone at baggage claim to contact SuperRide upon arrival (press the "SuperRide" button). If you prefer, there are taxis available at the airport as well.

FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: If you take the Santa Barbara Airbus from Los Angeles International Airport, please request to be dropped off at the Hotel Mar Monte, which is one of the scheduled stops and is located right next to the Santa Barbara Inn.

BY AIR: For your convenience, we recommend making flight reservations with Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA) as your final destination. There are several daily flight arrivals connecting directly from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, and Dallas/Fort Worth. INFORMATION ABOUT SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTELS IS LISTED SEPARATELY ABOVE FOR EACH HOTEL.

SANTA BARBARA AIRBUS FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX): This service provides several daily bus trips from Los Angeles International Airport to Santa Barbara (approx. $75 round-trip). Reservations are strongly recommended: 800-423-1618 (toll-free US/Canada), 805-964-7759 (outside US/Canada) or Santa Barbara Airbus website. There are discounts for advance reservations and for parties of two or more. FOR CONVENIENCE, YOU SHOULD GET OFF THE BUS AT THE HOTEL MAR MONTE.

BY TRAIN: Santa Barbara is served by Amtrak train service. The DoubleTree provides shuttle service to the hotel (listed above with the DoubleTree Hotel information; for transportation to other hotels, we recommend the following: SuperRide Shuttle (reserve in advance): 800-977-1123 or online at the SuperRide website; Yellow Cab: 805-965-5111; Orange Cab: 805-964-2800.

BY CAR: FROM THE SOUTH: Take US-101 North to Santa Barbara. Exit the Freeway on Cabrillo Blvd./Beach Area (you will exit from the LEFT LANE of the freeway). At the stop sign at the bottom of the off-ramp, turn left onto Cabrillo Blvd. Travel on Cabrillo Blvd. for approximately 1.5 miles if your destination is Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort (you will pass the Hotel Mar Monte and Santa Barbara Inn on your right prior to arriving at the DoubleTree). Turn right onto Calle Puerto Vallarta. The hotel entrance is the first driveway on the left. Come in the driveway and head left, following the signs to the hotel lobby. Once you register, you can park closely to where your room is located.

BY CAR: FROM THE NORTH: Take US-101 South to Santa Barbara. Exit at Milpas Street. Turn right onto Milpas Street. After crossing the railroad tracks turn right onto Calle Puerto Vallarta if your destination is the Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort. The hotel entrance is halfway down the block on the right. Come in the driveway and head left, follow the signs to the hotel lobby. Once you register, you can park closely to where your room is located. (If you are staying at the Santa Barbara Inn, continue straight on Milpas St. after you cross the railroad tracks; the Santa Barbara Inn is on your left at the second stoplight. If you are staying at the Hotel Mar Monte, turn left at the stoplight next to the Santa Barbara Inn onto Cabrillo Blvd.; the Hotel Mar Monte is located at the next left hand turn.)

CLIMATE: December weather in Santa Barbara is often pleasant and sunny, with occasional rain or clouds and fog. Temperatures are usually moderate during the day (70ºF / 20ºC) and cooler at night (45º F / 7ºC). We recommend a sweater or light coat for evenings, and an umbrella and jacket in case of rain.

CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations of conference registration must be made IN WRITING (email conferences@ucsb.housing.ucsb or fax 805-893-7287). A $50-per-registrant cancellation fee will be retained for all registration cancellations made on or before November 25, 2005. Cancellations after November 25 (or "no show") will result in forfeiture of all registration fees paid.
