Instructions for Abstract Preparation and Submission

Introduction

These instructions are intended to assist you with preparation of your electronic camera-ready abstract. For your convenience you can download the abstract template ( Word format) and use it to create your abstract.

How to Submit Your Abstract

All abstracts must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format. Contact information, topical area, and poster/oral preference may be found on the abstract submission form. Use the form to upload your abstract. Contact RJ Kurtz with questions or comments.

Length

Use no more than 350 words for the abstract text. The abstract must fit on one page (8-1/2" x 11") with the top, bottom, right, and left margins all one inch.

Abstract Format

Type Specifications

Twelve-point type with single spacing is required. Use Times New Roman typeface. Do not paginate.

Paragraphs

Indent each paragraph 1/4 inch. Single-space your text in single column format justified on both sides.

Title of Paper

Limit the title to ten words. Center the title, which should be initial capital letters (i.e., capitalize the first letter of each significant word). Use 12 pt Times New Roman typeface and boldfaced font style. Skip one line; then begin author information.

Author(s)

Limit listing authors to three or fewer if possible. Center the name(s) of author(s), which should be initial capital letters (i.e., capitalize the first letter of each name) and 12 pt Times New Roman typeface. The Presenting Author's name should be underlined. At the bottom of the page provide complete contact information for the Corresponding Author. Skip one line; then begin affiliation information.

Affiliation(s)

Use initial capital letters (i.e., capitalize the first letter of each significant word). Using italic type, center the affiliation, city, state, and email address. Use superscript numbers to denote the affiliation of each author.

Equations

Formulas should have one line of space above and below. Type equation numbers in Arabic numerals in parentheses flush with the right margin. Number equations consecutively.

Units of Measure

Use SI units. Conventional (non-SI) quantities may follow parenthetically if the author desires.

Acronyms

If an acronym is used more than once, define it at first use followed by the abbreviation or acronym in parentheses and then use the acronym from that point, e.g., liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) or General Electric (GE).
